Step by step

Method

4 steps

  1. 1

Pour 3 cups boiling water over 2 family-size black tea bags (or 6 regular bags) in a heatproof pitcher or bowl. Cover and steep 5 minutes — longer can turn bitter.

  2. 2

Remove the bags (squeeze gently). Stir in ⅓ cup granulated sugar until dissolved while the tea is still hot.

  3. 3

Stir in 1 cup peach nectar or peach juice. Taste and add a little more sugar if you want it sweeter.

  4. 4

Cool to room temperature, then chill thoroughly. Serve in tall glasses over ice with fresh peach slices if you like. You want a cold peach iced tea that tastes like black tea with ripe peach — not watery brown ice water or a syrupy nectar bomb that hides the tea.
