Step by step

Method

4 steps

  1. 1

Add 1–2 teaspoons matcha powder and 2 tablespoons room-temperature water to a small jar, bottle, or bowl. Whisk or shake hard until the powder is fully dissolved — no green lumps stuck to the sides.

  2. 2

Add ¾–1 cup cold milk and 1–2 teaspoons sugar, honey, or maple syrup. Shake or whisk again until combined and lightly frothy.

  3. 3

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour the matcha latte over the ice. Stir once so the green is even from top to bottom.

  4. 4

Drink right away. Add another spoon of sweetener if you want it sweeter. You want a cold, frothy green latte that tastes grassy-sweet and creamy — not chalky matcha clumps or a watery glass with powder floating on top.
