    Pat turkey dry. Mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and thyme; rub all over the breast.

    Scatter onion and garlic in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Pour in broth. Set turkey on top, skin-side up if it has skin. Dot with butter.

    Cook on LOW 5–7 hours (bone-in closer to 6–7) until the thickest part hits 165°F. Avoid HIGH if you can—gentler heat keeps it moist.
